LADIES BRIDGE AT THE GOLF CLUB
Ladies Bridge at Dunmurry Golf Club has a long history, commencing with an enthusiastic group of members who were keen supporters of Rubber Bridge.
In 1971 a monthly Duplicate Bridge session was set up, which soon was transformed into a weekly one.
Members pay a subscription to play in each session and the receipts from these are used to cover running costs with the greater balance given to support various charities.
Through the years, almost £9000 has been given in support to charities as widely differing as a fresh water project in Zambia and the Chest, Heart and Stroke Society of Northern Ireland.
This year, the chosen charities are the NI Children’s Hospice and the Alzheimer’s Society.
It is good to know that the Duplicate Bridge sessions continue to be well supported and very much enjoyed by all who attend. |
